I just got off the phone with her Washington office debating the statement she doesnt have control of corporate struture of Amtrak. My point was the board is supposed to be confirmed by the SENATE which for 2 of the 3 board members has not taken place. If you live in CA I suggest you call the office at the number listed below and ask for action to be taken. Otherwise this board will destroy Amtrak eventually, funding or not.

Thank you for writing to me to share your thoughts about
the recent decision to fire Amtrak's President and Chief Executive
Officer David Gunn. I appreciate hearing from you on this
important transportation issue and welcome the opportunity to
respond.
I understand the concerns you express in your letter. I
recognize the tremendous service that Amtrak provides to
California, as well as the rest of the Nation. As a member of the
Senate and the Appropriations Committee, I oversee the funding of
Amtrak, however, this oversight does not extend to the corporate
structure of Amtrak.
Please know that I will keep your comments in mind as I
continue to monitor the situation with Amtrak, and fight to ensure
that Amtrak receives appropriate Federal funding. Again, thank
you for contacting me. If you have any additional comments or
questions, please feel free to contact my Washington, D.C. staff at
(202) 224-3841. Best regards.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
