Thinking about a day round trip before the reroute of the Cascades and Coast Starlight in December. Is there anything of interest near any of these stations to while away a few hours? I'm starting from Seattle.

Centralia is your best bet. Its downtown is only a block from the train station, with restaurants, antique shops and so on. Lacey station is not near anything, and the neighborhood around Kelso station is sometimes sketchy.

I second CHamilton's opinion. Definitely do not do Olympia/Lacey. Centralia is the easy winner here.

Is this why our train went to Olympia/Lacey - too keep the foamers from downtown Centralia? :D
