Hey guys, I just got back from my Zephyr/City of NO trip from EMY to NOL. I will be posting a trip report on it in a couple of days, as I have written some 11 pages on it in a notebook, so it will take me awhile to type it out on here.
The trip was great. #6 was only 3 hours late into OMA when news broke that we would have to be rerouted due to track flooding. So we got a UP locomotive and took UP rails between OMA and CHI. We ended up being about 19 hours late. Thank god I had a sleeper that's all I can say. I had a sleeper on #59 out of CHI on the 27th but since I missed that one #59 on the 28th was sold out of sleepers. So I coached it. Pretty nice actually, very relaxing.
I will go into more detail obviously in my trip report.
The interesting part of this delay...
We went from OMA to CHI NONSTOP. It took us just shy of 24 hours. Not one smoking break, just one small crew change. That has to be close to a record!
