Driving to Santa Fe and taking the train back but not sure when. If we book seats on the SWC for the 12th of June and for some reason need to stay longer, can we reschedule the trip for a day or two later? Is there a penalty fee? I understand dif days equal dif prices. So we would be prepared to pay the difference.

As long as you change it before the scheduled departure, there should not be a charge to change the reservation above and beyond the difference in fares.

If, for some reason, the fare winds up being lower, if you're in a sleeper the difference would be put on an eVoucher, only redeemable at staffed Amtrak offices (officially, anyways.) With coach, if it's 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the one you're originally booked on, there's a 100% refund. Otherwise they'll take a 10% cut if you want it in cash. (I believe you'd still get 100% if you put it on an eVoucher.)

Never mind. Found the answer. :) Thanks, that's what I found.
