Yeah that a traffic jam. The link story is lacking as usual. They know or don’t know what derail. Train are too long or too short and heavy. It’s the fault of the railroads running longer trains, but the investigation has yet to start. The only missing statement is crew size, probably due the recent government decision for two in the cab.
 
As freight trains get longer and longer, the chances of derailments greatly increase. All it takes is one of a hundred or so cars to burn a bearing or break an axle and disaster strikes. Shipping is all about the bottom line and that has created these very long trains. The other drawback is that many passing sidings are not long enough to hold a mile long train and that creates delays for Amtrak.
