This Des Moines Register story mentions California Zephyr.

Coal train rear-ends MOW train, two crew die on coal train.

"After the crash, service was suspended between Galesburg, Ill., and Omaha, said Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole, and passengers were being offered bus service between those locations. Passengers arriving in Chicago were also offered bus service to Galesburg. Cole said the progress of cleanup and repairs will determine when normal service resumes."

Just googled it myself. Article with the most info I found came from the Chicago Tribune. The crash occured around 7 a.m. which put #6 right behind it. Sad day in railroading. My heart goes out to the crew members that were killed, families.

My goodness. How could something like this happen in a signal controlled section? Anybody think a blown red signal or something related may be to blame?
