With the Senate putting up a figure of 1.4 billion for Amtrak, for FY 06, Norman Mineta has threatened to recommend a Veto of the Bill if passed. What he doesnt see/know is that it will likely be tucked into a much larger bill, which wont be vetoed.

You can disagree with his policies, but Mr. MINTEA has had to endure more in his lifetime than any man should have. He was imprisoned by his own country simply because of his Japanese ancestry and appearance. Despite this he rose to be mayor of a major city and a cabinet member in two national administrations under two different parties.

No matter what you might think of his position on this one issue, this man has earned the right to at least be called by his given name. Mr. Norman Mineta, Secretary of Transportation.
