Since this is such a great board with such savvy train folks I know someone here can answer a question that I've been wondering about.
I know that during peak travel times (Thanksgiving and Christmas for example) it's often hard to get a sleeper if you wait until the last minute to book.
Does Amtrak usually only have two sleeper cars for passengers? If so, why wouldn't they add another sleeper car if the demand is there? Is it a matter of supply?
I've always thought that if they had enough people it would be a piece of cake to add another car, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Can anyone explain why not?
Thanks.
