My wife and I were on 98 coming up from Miami, and got into Baltimore at about 8:45, or 35 minutes late. As we rode u the escalator from the platform, we heard the fire alarms going off, just like it's shown in all those safety videos they're always playing in the station. We joined the crowd and ended up outside in front of the station for about 15 minutes before the firefighters arrived, checked the place out, and cleared us to re-enter. They were holding trains, so I noticed 5-10 minute delays up on the board when we came back in to fetch our checked bag. So if anybody noticed any ripple delays on the NEC earlier today, that might be the reason.
Other than that, it was a good ride with pretty good on-board service. My GPS recorded the Savannah-Baltimore average speed of 50 mph, including stops. I'll have t write a travelogue when I get the time.
