Empire Builder 7(14) delay HAV-SBY and consequences?

With no protect trainset at SEA and PDX, now 8(16) is 7.5 hours late at the get-go (after a hurried turn-around).

Talk about "domino effects" -- sheesh!

Anybody know what happened in Montana to start this snowballing fiasco?

I am not sure on what caused the delay, but this helps to explain why 8(15) had no baggage car

On another note, 7(15) has a viewliner in service!!!

This is what I've seen posted else where.

The reason for the delay to 7-14 was a piece of ontrack equipment between Havre and Shelby that could not be moved, delaying the train 5 hours. Then the train was further delayed positioning a relief crew.

With the U.S. Open fervor in the Puget Sound area, buses weren't available to terminate the train at Spokane and bus, so the trains are continuing to destination.

And now 8(16) is nearly 12 hours late, last reported at Wolf Point, MT.
