Has anyone spent any time in DDG and at the Boot Hill B&B? We're 70 yr. old couple planning on spending at least 1 night there in Sept. Thank you.

I stayed a couple nights there in the Best Western and really enjoyed my trip! I loved the town and the people were very friendly and welcoming. The Boot Hill museum is one of the best small town museum's I've visited.

I've stayed in Dodge City in Hampton Inn and enjoyed my visit. There is a sightseeing trolley bus that gives a about 2 hour tour of the town including the stock yards. For me, the Dodge City Boot Hill attraction was a little disappointing. I was unaware that the original Dodge City buildings were burn and replaced by new buildings since my first visit in 1952, I drove to and from Dodge City and did not arrive by train. I have ridden SWC through Dodge City several times.

A second vote for visiting the Flint Hills. Have a great photo of my wife almost invisible in the tall grass with the endless skies behind her. As for Dodge City, might be worth a visit if Matt Dillon was around.

We stayed two nights at the Wyatt Earp Inn. Decent restaurant next door. We took the trolley tour before we decided to stay two nights. I particularly wanted to go back to Fort Dodge, a very interesting place. Had an extended conversation with the docent at the museum/library. About ghosts. There is a restaurant downtown, across the tracks from the station...That is composed of a couple or more old rail cars. CJ

I stayed at the Boot Hill B&B last September. Curt and Enid were great hosts and they know all the great spots to eat in town. It is at the top of a really steep hill and all the rooms are on the 2nd floor. Curt picked up and dropped me off at the Amtrak station at 5am. The Boot Hill Museum is across the street from the B&B and is really interesting if you like western history. I was also able to get a tour of the train station which was a Fred Harvey House. After Labor Day much of the tourist attractions end like the trolley tour and the gunfight and ice cream parlor at the museum. There is not much to the downtown of Dodge City, most of the stores were closed. You can see my pictures here: Dodge City Pictures

My great grandparents were residents of Dodge City, and when I was a kid there were many stories about ghosts in various places in the city! I thought Boothill was just another place to play, but I was 8 years old and tourism wasn't so big then!

I basically think of Dodge City as a small dying Midwestern tourist trap with friendly people worth a one day visit if you're in the area, similar to Tombstone, AZ.

I've only been through on the Chief in recent years and its usually dark, so can't say for sure how it is today!

Dodge City now has a casino that open a few years back.

Front street did not burn down, it was torn down for the highway. The town today has bypass on the north and south sides, so there was no need to tear Front street down. Which at the time was a greatly debated issues.
