I've almost always been able to have dinner NB on the Crescent out of ATL. One time, the train was significantly late (over an hour)and I wasn't able to get dinner, so just keep track of that and eat first if you need to or be prepared to eat in the cafe/lounge.

You're OK on the Crescent IF you're aboard -and in the diner- by 9pm. That's the "magic hour". Scheduled departure from Atlanta is 8:04pm so in most cases you're fine. But check with Julie or with the Amtrak app for status of Train 20. If it arrives from the south too close to 9:00pm, there's a very nice Kroger deli just across the street. You'll know to go over there for a sandwich in plenty of time. Enjoy
