Why would the CZ leave its starting station 90 minutes late today? Doesn't that put it 1 1/2 hours behind before even pulling out of the station?

Held for a late connecting train? I'm assuming you're talking about leaving CHI.

Trains can leave late because of the prior day's train arriving late, because of a car that fails at the last minute prior to departure, because of crew problems, and many other factors. Why the train that you noticed was late I have no idea why that specific train was late.

They had to set out a bad car in the yard.
