CZ ON TIME?

JUST WONDERING IF WE TAKE THE CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR TO EMERYVILLE IN SEPTEMBER AND HAVE RESERVED A HOTEL ROOM FOR 3 DAYS AND ARE SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE AT 5:00PM, WHAT ARE OUR CHANCES OF ARRIVING THAT EVENING ON TIME AND SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT ARRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT OR EVEN THE NEXT MORNING AND LOSING OUR HOTEL ROOM? <_<

Typically, and absent some extraordinary problems enroute, the Zephyr arrives about 4 hours late, give or take an hour or so. That would get you in at about 9pm: in time for a late dinner and a peaceful night in a room that is not moving.
Odds of on-time: nil. Better chance of hitting the PowerBall.

Odds of no worse than 5 hours: pretty good.

Possibility of mega-late (after midnight): Possible but not probable.

By the way, anyone else find the Zephyr's scheduled Emeryville arrival time of 4:59pm kind of funny? Here is a train that is never on-time, is lucky to arrive within an hour or two of schedule, and they schedule the arrival for 4:59pm. Not 4:30. Not 5 o'clock. No, 4:59. Hilarious. Someone at Amtrak has a sense of humor.
