Hello All.....Now that I have 4 Amtrak trips under my belt, with two of them in sleepers and two of them in coach, (3 of them RT) I have noticed a "lack of" coach attendents. Other than on the #6 on Labor Day weekend where there was a woman walking through almost as much as an airline flight attendent, and was most gracious and a great role model for being a coach attendent most of the other trips I haven't had a clue who the coach attendent was. How many are there for the 3 coach cars? Where do they reside when they aren't walking the train? And another question, when you ding the bell for service, how can they hear that they need you and how does a sleeper attendent hear it also? Thanks!

One, perhaps two. It depends upon the number of coaches on the train. Aboard some trains the Coach attendant is responsible for three cars.
