1. New Timetable – Effective October 31, 2005

New printed timetables should be available at all stations beginning Wednesday October 26. The new timetable includes information about Capitol Corridor’s new customer service call center, the new motorcoach stop in Benicia and the addition of Benicia Transit and WestCAT to our free Transit Transfer program. 2. Eugene Skoropowski Wins Passenger Rail Advocate of the Year

CCJPA’s Managing Director, Eugene K. Skoropowski, is this year’s recipient of the W. Graham Claytor Jr. Award for Distinguished Service to Passenger Transportation by Railway Age magazine. The award, named for the late W. Graham Claytor Jr., who served as Amtrak’s president and CEO in the 1980’s and early 1990’s is given annually to an individual who has made significant, if not historic, contributions to passenger railroading in the United States. 3. Stitch ‘n’ Ride Wins APTA AdWheel Award Grand Prize!

Each year, members of APTA (American Public Transportation Association) submit their very best advertising, marketing, promotion, and communications materials in the media categories of print, electronic, radio/tv and special events to the AdWheel Awards competition. Capitol Corridor is proud to be a Grand Prize winner! Our spring 2005 "Stitch ‘n’ Ride" knitting program won in the Special Event Category in Group 2. We’re bringing back Stitch ‘n’ Ride for February’s Stitches West Marketplace in Santa Clara, so all you knitters and crocheters out there, be sure to check out site for details. Meanwhile, thank you for helping us become a Grand Prize Winner and happy stitching!

4. Tie Renewal Project Nov. 1 – 8

In order to increase track capacity and speed between Oakland and San Jose, Union Pacific Railroad will continue its second phase of the massive tie replacement program starting Tuesday, November 1, 2005, that will impact Capitol Corridor trains to/from San Jose. Your patience, understanding and cooperation are appreciated. This project will be in effect from November 1-8, 2005 - Details.

5. Take the MetroPCS Tailgate Train to Oakland Football games

The Capitol Corridor Tailgate Train, now presented by MetroPCS, is once again making the party pilgrimage every Sunday to Oakland home games. Now that the Oakland Coliseum station is open, passengers get dropped off right in front of McAfee Coliseum. Your favorite 98 Rock Jocks will be on board to host the party all the way to the Coliseum.
