If you purchase Business Class tickets (such as from Penn Station to Washington DC), are you assigned seats, or is it a cattle call like it is for coach? Just wondering if we'd actually be able to count on sitting together rather than the crapshoot in coach.

thanks!!

As mentioned, you still don't have assigned seats.

From my experiences, at Penn Station, you can break out of the free-for-all line (aka stampede) for coach, and comfortably meander over to the BC car(s).

At Washington, you get to cut to the front of the line (along with disabled passengers and passengers with really small kids), and get to board first.

And don't forget about your free 1/2 size can of warm soda, you get on-board!

As far as I am concerned, Business Class is only worth it on trains 510/517. That's because you go through Customs faster plus you are closer to the dining car. You may also get a $3.00 coupon (not sure if they still do that, that was as of Aug 05), plus a quieter car (unless some silly person brings their 3-yr old kid in Business class).
