boarding early

We're going to board the #5 at SLC. It seems to be early a good bit of the time, like 45 min early yesterday. If so, will we be allowed to claim our bedroom and go to sleep, or is boarding done by the book based on departure time?

At SLC, you can board just after the CZ arrives.

If your Bedroom has just been vacated you may be asked to wait a few minutes, either on the platform or in the Lounge Car until the Attendant can get it cleaned and made up.

It is likely up the SLC station staff. When we boarded #6 there in March, the departing passengers

were asked to wait until all arriving passengers had detrained and the luggage had been unloaded

before we were allowed to board. It probably was less than 10 minutes after the train arrived.
