It's been years since I've been on Amtrak.

Are the beds in roomettes and bedrooms supplied with a blanket that is already above the top sheet when either the passenger or SCA changes the setup from day to night, or does one have to ask the attendant to bring a blanket?

Blankets are provided. They'll either be spread on the bed or sealed in a plastic bag.

I've had them wrapped in plastic, and also spread on the bed. Never had to chase one down. I generally travel solo, I can grab the blanket + pillow from above if I need extras.

Generally, the blanket is always there, except once recently, when the SCA was making down our beds both were missing, but he had them for us in seconds, apologizing for the missing blankets.. Somehow, I felt the previous SCA was suppose to provide the blanks when they make up the beds. Maybe they ran out on the previous SCA trip.
