A friend is trying to put together a presentation to use with school children focused on Amtrak equipment - Then and Now.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to where he can go on the internet to get photos of old Amtrak equipment, possibly shots of equipment as Amtrak acquired it from the frieght railroads, new Amtrak ordered equipment and then shots of Acela?

If you could find some way of doing it, the video at the following link would make a nice addition!

This site has a lot of unique, high quality old Amtrak photos including some nice interior shots: http://www.railpixs.com/index.html

There is always http://www.railpictures.net and do a search through the photo archive by date, oldest first. Some of the early photos are really interesting because you'll see various liveries all running together on the same train. And some trains look pretty much like they did pre-Amtrak, for example the El Capitan running with ATSF-painted locos and ATSF hi-level cars.

Of course you can also find newer photos on that same site, including shots of Acela, Amfleet and other new-for-Amtrak equipment as it first debuted in the system.
