Phase 1 of the Tunnel Box calls for building a Concrete Casing between 32nd Street and 10th Avenue and 31 Street and 11th Avenue. This Tunnel Box should be completed by November, with the rebuilding of the LIRR Maintenance Facility by October, 2015.

Phase 2 of the Tunnel Box calls for extending the Tunnel Box to 30th Street and 12th Avenue from 31st Street and 11th Avenue. Should this extension take the same, less or more time to construct than Phase 1?

Phase 2 of Hudson Yards' Construction (between 11th and 12th Avenue) is supposed to begin around 2018.

Thus, is it likely for Phase 2 of the Tunnel Box to be completed by then, or will Amtrak likely stage a big window between completion of Phase 1 of the Tunnel Box and the commencement of Phase 2 Construction?

Pardon me for asking, but what is it about your fascination with phases?

Every other post you make seems to be about Phase 1 vs Phase 2 vs Phase 3 of some project or another.

The extension of the Tunnel Box will be dug out and built when it needs to prior to the buildings going up at Hudson Yards. If the Hudson Yards development of the space between 11th and 12th Avenue is delayed, then the extension of the Tunnel Box will likely be delayed. If the Hudson Yards development stays to the 2018 schedule, then the tunnel box extension gets funding from where ever it can be obtained and is started sooner.

Relax. Really, take a break in asking questions about the Tunnel Box and NEC Gateway that no one here can answer.

Even using completely fictitious non-existent or presently undefined phases sometimes. :)

I think it must be a phase he is going thru...

Can the Tunnel Box extension to 12th Avenue get constructed after the Platform west of 11th Avenue gets built?

1. What is the likely depth of the Tunnel Box going to be around 12th Avenue?

2. Suppose that Related decides not to build west of 11th Avenue--then what?

1. Deeper than under 11th Avenue.

You have seen the Hudson Yards tunnel box study report which has drawings of the tunnel box route. Extrapolate the estimated tunnel depth around 12th Avenue from the slope and depth around 11th Avenue.

2. Why would Related or Hudson Yards Development corporation decide not to build west of 11th Avenue? There will be a new Number 7 line station opening nearby on 11th Avenue. The property location is too valuable to keep it empty for long.

Why (from a PDF) is the Tunnel Box expected to end east of 12th Avenue--rather than right at 12th Avenue?

Why (from a PDF) is the Tunnel Box expected to end east of 12th Avenue--rather than right at 12th Avenue?
Because that is the only area where the ROW needs to be protected?
Will you please stop asking these inane questions. The answers to these should be obvious to you if you would bother to think a little.

I thought that maybe the Tunnel Box Segment between 11th and 12th Avenue would be shorter than the 11th to 10th Avenue Segment...

http://www.northplainfield.org/Press_Release/Archive/2013/Amtrak.pdf This link shows quite a turn of the proposed Tunnel Box Segment southwest of 31st and 11th Avenue...
