Taken from the Washington Post Online:

Conservative Leader Paul Weyrich Dies at 66

By Patricia Sullivan

Washington Post Staff Writer

Thursday, December 18, 2008; 11:35 AM

Excerpt from article:

He served on the board of Amtrak, the national passenger railroad, from 1987 to 1993. As a member of a congressional panel formed in 1997 to study the government-subsidized railway, he spearheaded an unsuccessful effort to abolish Amtrak and devolve most rail service to states that want to support it.

Hmm. NARP took a totally different view. They called him "a vigorous advocate both for rail transit and intercity passenger trains" and stated that he was a longtime NARP member. They don't even mention that.

His Wiki page briefly says Weyrich "had a long history of ardent support for rail mass transit..." As for the rest of his positions: well, he and I would have viewed each other as broken clocks, and I'll leave it at that.
