We have a cruise next year going out of Vancouver so planning to take Cascades to and from Seattle (big savings over flying into Vancouver plus get to add train rides into vacation).

Is there there a first class lounge similar to Chicago Union Station where we could store bags in Vancouver to give us a chance to do some sight seeing without wheeling our luggage along with us (cruise gets in 8am, train does not leave until 5:30ish)?

There is the Panorama Lounge in Pacific Central Station but it's only open to passengers boarding VIA's The Canadian on the days it runs.

You may be able to day check your bags with the friendly VIA Agents @ the ticket Counter?

They didn't charge us anything to hold our bags for the day while sightseeing while waiting to board that evenings Canadian, but we did tip them for the service.

The Skytrain ( light rail/Subway) runs from right in front of the Station (Main Street-Science World/elevated) to/from the old CP Rail Station downtown (Waterfront Station aka Canada Place) that now serves as the cruise ship terminal and ferry docks to North Vancouver(Sea Bus). Buy a day pass and you can sightsee all over Vancouver for $9.75 CDN.( Edited to update Fare and Station Names)

Jim's info raises the possibility of checking your bags early at the cruise ship.

The cruise operators will surely have an answer yes or no, and I'm betting yes. It's in their interest to get your stuff ready to go to your room earlier rather than at the last minute.

We were looking for a place to leave our bags on the day we get off the cruise (about 8-9am?) because the train from Vancouver to Seattle later that evening does not leave until after 5pm. So that gives us about 8 hours to sight see. We travel pretty light but would still prefer not to haul our wheelies while sight seeing.

Thanks for the tip on the Skytrain. That was on our " yet to figure out list".

The VIA baggage room will day check your bags for CDN $4 each. They'll be open.

The Translink Daypass is CDN $9.75 now.

Any Expo or Millenium line Skytrain will get you from Waterfront (the old CP station) to Main Street/Science World where Pacific Central Station is. It is only about a 7 minute ride. Exit the Skytrain station from the east end and you'll be in park in front of the station.

Perfect. Thankyou.
