Amtrak America painted sleeper on 92(26)

Just caught a glimpse of the Silver Star passing Ashland, VA, and it had an FRA car up front, usual VL baggage, followed by an Amtrak-America liveried VL sleeper, then a standard painted sleeper, and the cafe and coaches. Are they repainting old Viewliners in the new scheme, or was this one of the new ones being tested?

They are slowly reprinting them all as they filter in to Beech Grove.

Are they repainting the lounges and coaches or just the sleepers? What about the locomotives and the Superliners?

Only the single level LD fleet at present, mostly focused on Viewliners AFAICT.

The P32-DMs on Empire Service are gradually being painted in "Empire Service" livery. I think that might be on NY's dime.

an Amtrak-America liveried VL sleeper

This would be 62043, the lone Viewliner-I to have the 'new' Phase III decals applied. The 62043 received its new decal stripes in February 2016. Viewliner sleepers have continued to be cycled for overhaul through Beech Grove at the rate of about one per month, but all since then appear to not have recieved the new livery.

I think it would make more sense to hold off on applying new decals until the internal configuration in the VLIs are changed to match the VLII and they are also upgraded to 125mph.

Viewliners are done at Beech Grove; the Amfleets go thru heavy overhauls at Bear DE.

We might see 125 mph cert for the VL1 somewhat sooner than the interior retrofit, but of course I hope they both happen in the not too distant future.

So there's ONE Viewliner I painted in Amtrak America scheme. Doesn't seem like we should be getting excited about this. With a new president, anything can change.
