Alaska Airlines
announced two new routes from Seattle, saying it would add nonstop service to Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) and Albuquerque. The carrier also detailed plans
to drop four "underperforming" routes in other markets.
Alaska Air's BWI flights will begin Sept. 2 while the Albuquerque route will launch Sept. 18. The carrier will fly one daily round-trip flight on each route with Boeing 737-800 aircraft....
Among Alaska Air's other new Seattle routes set to start this summer are New Orleans (begins June 12), Tampa (June 20) and Detroit (Sept. 4).
Elsewhere, Alaska Air says it plans to end service on four other routes – in part to help it bolster its main base in Seattle....
The routes being dropped by Alaska Air:
- Los Angeles-San Jose, Calif. (ends April 5)
- Portland, Ore.-Long Beach, Calif. (ends Aug. 23)
- Atlanta-Portland, Ore. (ends Sept. 1)
- Anchorage-Denver (seasonal service had been planned for summer)
