Interesting afternoon on #90 Fayetteville to Baltimore - almost.Despite a heat order did fairly well to Richmond arriving about 20 minutes late. After departing Richmond, held south of Ashland for about 5 minutes - CSX intermodal in trouble on #2 and #53 on #1. No big deal - moved as soon as #53 passed. Came to a stop at Ashland Station (not a stop for #90) - medical emergency in one of the coaches. EMT's arrived quickly and one passenger and parent removed for treatment. After Washington still only about 30 mins down.Heard conducror say "should we leave the diesel on?" - knew that was trouble.New crew said a tree had fallen on the tracks at New Carrollton which #129 hit - tree went in the air and goodbye catenary. Also said it would be "hours" before departure. The new crew expired on HOS at 0225 so didn't look good for us. Wound up taking a taxi with 3 others to Balt where my car was parked @ 2235. Apparently the train arrived at 0019 but that crew had to be relived somewherebecause they did not make NYP until after 0400.A very long day - none of the delays were avoidable - sometimes it just goes that way!
