Texas Eagle Train 21/421 that departed Chicago (CHI) on 9/27 is currently stopped south of Walnut Ridge (WNR) due to mechanical issues. Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
Only that it's going to 3 days a week Jaime, just like all other LD Trains except the Auto Train. Is the Texas Eagle route under threat? if so is there a timescale?
Thanks
None, if it's only the 21.So which cars get switched to the SL tonight in SAT?
The Auto Train is the only LD Train that as of now is Scheduled to remain Daily Jaime. That's good news re the TE Jim, thanks for letting us know. What is the plan for the auto train?
We're planning to re-visit the US in Fall next year on the basis that by next Spring the world is in a different place to today. The TE journey is part of the plan although not in the Fall, we are planning a longer visit to our usual.
You appear quite perky on the forum and saw you got away for a day trip last week?, Looks like you are coping well with this new life we all lead.
Our problem during Covid times is a very minor one, we're going a bit Stir Crazy. But we are able to do that in a lovely place so not complaining at all, just dreaming of a better future for everyone.

Of course the Coach Diner has been removed, so Coach Passengers no.longer have Meals included in their Fare.
Wow, when did they start that? I guess if ridership is low enough, that would make sense.Actually, the 21/421 use the same consist everyday. Three days, the only sleeper and the rear coach are switched to the rear of the SL, and vice versa with 22/422.
That's the Normal consist for the Texas Eagle between Chicago and San Antonio. ( they did take the Bag Car off last year, they uses a Coach/ Bag Car.)Wow, when did they start that? I guess if ridership is low enough, that would make sense.
The new casserole mush and three-a-week schedule should do wonders for decimating ridership and enthusiasm. Is the Texas Eagle route under threat? if so is there a timescale?

Other than that it's doing just fine.

If we're talking seriously then there was a Subway in the Fort Worth station that could work if it's still open. I don't remember anything near the station in Houston. In El Paso you could grab something from a hotel cafe a few blocks away. In San Antonio the calling times don't work for grabbing food and drinks and Austin doesn't have much near the tracks but it does have Jim.Maybe we could bring sandwiches?

Coach passengers never had their meals included in their farės, only sleepers. The Auto Train is the only LD Train that as of now is Scheduled to remain Daily Jaime.

This was True on all other LD Trains, but the Auto Train has 2 Diners, one for Coach Passengers and the Sleeping Car Diner, and Meals( Dinner and a Continental Breakfast) were included for ALL Passengers on the Auto Train.Coach passengers never had their meals included in their farės, only sleepers.
El Paso also has Juanita the Burrito Lady.If we're talking seriously then there was a Subway in the Fort Worth station that could work if it's still open.
