    The Definition of "Railfanning"

I really don't think there can be a strict definition of a railfan. Some people take it farther than others. I, for one, would consider myself a big railfain in the sense that I love trains, go out of my way to travel on them, and enjoy every one of my subway, commuter train, and long distance...

    Two In A Bedroom

I just booked my first rewards travel (WPB to NYP) and they asked me on the phone if I wanted to add anyone to the itinerary. By the way, you have to call to book bedrooms. I never read the rules and thought I was getting blacked out because I couldn't redeem points for a bedroom online.

Do you have to actually TAKE the train to reset point expiration?

I think the more important question is how could you have waited 3 years between Amtrak trips?!

    Superliner I or II

About what year did they make this change? I remember taking the CZ west (CHI to DEN) a few times and the ride was really rough with lots of swaying. That was about 15 years ago, though.

    Chase tightening up credit

Nope, no World for me. Doesn't say platinum anywhere either, and the website didn't provide me any more information. Guess the AGR cards come in regular flavors too.

    Chase tightening up credit

My card doesn't say Platinum or World anywhere on it - how can I tell if it's one of them?

    Chase tightening up credit

This happened to me as well when I first opened my AGR Mastercard - I got the card, realized 3k wasnt enough, and requested a higher line of credit which was denied. I would guess you have to wait about 6 months and like jackal says, use it. They approved you for x amount of credit when you...

    Chase tightening up credit

I know what you mean. This happened to me with a Bank of America card before I closed it (I hate them with a passion). I have a friend with a 25k limit on a CC and it's a little insane if you ask me. Too many temptations, I mean you can buy a car outright with that kind of credit.

    Second Passenger in Room

Does this passenger still have to pay the rail fare?

    Chase tightening up credit

Rogers, Hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but I'd like to hopefully help you out with your question. I use my AGR Master card as my check card to rack up the points, and I've been burned by the lack of credit at times. Depending on how long you've had the card, you can usually ask...

You know you ride trains too much when...

I remember that happening to me a few times when I was a daily commuter on the Empire Service from RHI to NYP. I started to notice I was in the same seat on the same car based on what was broken and stained. :o

    New Guy Here

Hello everyone! I never imagined a forum just for Amtrak could exist, but man am I glad I found this place! I'm from upstate New York (RHI) but currently live in Jersey. I commute by train early and often, getting to deal with Penn Station at least 3 days a week. I think I'm the only one who...
