May 29, Car 1130 PDX to LAX Got to my room in Portland. Room was absolutely freezing. Attendant told me car had been in Oakland yard for repairs. Time of year to take the eastbound Zephyr
Check the weather. If you see a blizzard over the Sierras and Rockies, get a ticket then. We did that once. Train was stopped for 6 hrs over Donner Lake.
