Thanks for saying that it wasn't to wordy.... I could have expanded alot more but was worried. The grandbaby won't be travelling with me again as this trip was to take her home to mom. At Christmas it will just be me. As for the cost, that is really immaterial. I already have a ballpark...

Well here goes. Hope I'm not to wordy. Landed in Minneapolis, got a taxi to the Amtrak station (got ripped off by the cabdriver, he took the long route). Got to the train station, my how tiny. I had thought that maybe they would have had a small snack bar (was looking for something to eat)...

well I have completed my train trip. I gotta say to everyone that helped me when I first started posting here. If you hadn't given the advice you did, I would have been totally messed up. Am preparing a trip report that I will post soon. :D

Mike Can't comment on your proposed route, but if you'd like to hear from someone that just took their first train trip, (Minneapolis to Minot and back) I'd be happy to give you my impressions and thoughts about what to expect in regards to general train travel. :D

thanks... didn't know that.... from some of the people I talked to on the train that were regulars, they said, that as far as they knew, most of the sleepers on the MOT to MINN weren't normally booked..... most people use it as a form of commuter service..... I will definitely look into that...

15 % for what reason? I bought a vets membership to Amtrak rewards so I get that discount already.... is it cheaper sometimes to try and wait till on the train to upgrade to get a better rate? :D

okay, thanks.... the only time I was on the lower level was getting on and off the train, and we weren't moving, and when I went to use the facilities. Which by the way.... I found out are located right next to the exit. I got blocked in for 10 minutes.... lucky me... thank god I had that...

lord if that was quiet where I was... remember I was at the front of the cabin, right near the doors to the next cabin..... the nite thing doesn't bother me... the biggest issue I guess I have is how smooth, noise don't bother me, is the lower or upper level sleeping room? which one is best...

thanks... okay if I was going to get a superline room, which level would you recommend and what level? does the train ride better on the lower level than the upper? I swear I could feel if we ran over an ant in my seat last nite. The shaking and the shudders I could deal with, I'm curious...
