My mother, children and I traveled this route to Disney World in the 90's. This route was my mother's favorite and she talks about it often. Mine is the popular California Zephyr route but my mother preferred the Sunset Limited over that. She liked the California Zephyr as well but she tends to...
I am thankful for the information given here. I didn't want to call back until I had the correct details.
I just called Amtrak and a lady who answered was very helpful. She made a change with no issues whatsoever and no charge. I think the person yesterday quoted me a price for another sleeper...
That would make sense for a price increase. Thanks!
I have the reservation and it clearly states room #22 and #23 going there and back. I guess the people I phoned at Amtrak thought they were downstairs and directly across from each other.
Yeah, I noticed that in the past getting different info...
Thanks for the link. I agree about what they layout states but wondering what the 2 people, at Amtrak, that I spoke with are referring to. They both told me something completely different than what this layout reads. I am guessing that there is another type of sleeping car that you cannot find...
Hi all! It's been a couple of years since I have posted but planning on another train trip this summer and have a question.
I just booked, online, a train trip on board the Texas Eagle to San Antonio for 2 adults and 2 children.
We got 2 roomettes on car #2132 going to San Antonio rooms 022...
I made my reservation a few weeks ago and mine printed out with a room #'s on it as well. Probably a good idea to call Amtrak to make sure they have your roomette reserved. Let us know what you find out.
My husband and I do not smoke but he was wondering how long we stop at each station. It's been so long since I traveled by train and I don't remember. Where do you get this list of times at each stop? We will be going on the Texas Eagle this weekend from Dallas to Chicago and I would love a list...
I have had friends ask me why am I taking a train if I can get somewhere faster by plane or drive. It's a valid question if you are unaware of train travel. My main reason for train travel is the joy of riding on the train itself. I do tell friends if you need to get somewhere fast maybe the...
I voted sleep better at home only because anytime I am on vacation all the excitement keeps me from getting a full nights sleep. I do, however, sleep better on a train than I do in a hotel room. The movement of the train rocks me to sleep and the distant sound of the horn is nice to hear...
I will see how it goes when we are on our return trip. If the rooms are not all sold out I might inquire about it but it's really not a big issue if we have the same scenery coming back. The lounge car is a great place to visit if we want to see other scenery! We will enjoy our time on the...
Thanks for the info!
We are both thin and he is 6'4". I am tall as well but not as tall as him so he will for sure have to sleep on the bottom bunk! ;) Comfort has never been an issue with me on the train and I have slept on the top bunk numerous times comfortably. I have had the room near...
I use to travel a lot by train in the 90's with my mother and 2 children. We always booked a bedroom, family room or 2 roomettes. If we booked 2 roomettes we always got them across the hall from each other so we can enjoy the view from both sides. Also we could enjoy the view on both side with...
