Very disappointed. I remember my first LD trip and having the French toast while crossing Indiana on the Capitol Limited. I hope this move backfires.

Gotcha. It still boggles my mind that Amtrak turns trains in DC and Boston, despite both being stub-end terminals for the most part (less so DC, with the through tracks for the trains to the South).

And with Amtrak having to do push-pull into GCT, not having that is going to be an issue.
I don't know the mechanics, but how hard would it to make the entire Amtrak fleet 100% push-pull compatible?

I've recently come out strongly in favor of liability reform. No other country I think has the liability laws we have. Even using the toilet is a liability.

I won't lie and I'll admit that I've fallen in love with the late British Rail as of recent. Dull product, but it went just about everywhere.*

A fair argument. When I rode the Ocean back in 2015, the food was well prepared and despite the shortcomings of the Renaissance cars, it was a wonderful ride both ways. The Park car used that October had a clean but a tired interior.

Exactly. Amtrak doesn't have the speed advantage that the airlines have (except for NYP north and south, CHI-MKE/STL and LAX-SAN) so Amtrak's way of competing should be through a far better product than what the airlines can offer in those segments.
One way is through free bags and comfier...
By reading the press release, it looks as if everything except the Lake Shore Limited will run as through trains.
As for the self-transfer, there's nothing wrong with it, passengers on the Downeaster do it all the time!
