Too me the bus thing is another blunder of Amtrak, although it is mostly the fault of freight railroad of not complying with the Amtrak contract. Go thru to Seattle and stay one night.......then to Spokane the next afternoon. Stay at the old Moore Hotel ($90/night). This motel is old, but well...

In Seattle, check out Moore Hotel. It is an old Hotel with nice rooms, but nothing fancy (no air conditioning, but usually don't need it). But 3 blocks from the market downtown. Was $79 per night 2 yrs ago!!

I always due reservations way in advance (Seattle to Chicago) to get the lowest bucket price, but am baffled of next summer (June & July). Usually now is when a person can get the cheapest for that far ahead, but the deluxe bedrooms are $1400, $1192, $989 or show sold out!!!!! In May and April...

The last time I was there (2 yrs ago) the car rental picked me up at the amtrak station, very nice. And they'll deliver you back to station also. They keep track of train status, or you can call them by cell when getting close.

Anyone know what happened, it started 4 hrs late out of Seattle I guess?? Estimated in Chicago about 2AM
