I'm on #14 now. We left LA an hour late because the AC was blasting in the trans-dorm. They eventually gave up and just made the crew deal with it. Conductor thinks we will be fine - even with waiting for over an hour for a southbound surfliner south of SLO. Looks like according to even...
I was on this train, too. I thought the Amtrak employees handled it extremely well. I was in the Parlour Car during this time. Sleeping Car passengers were free to move about the train, but they held the coaches (it appeared). The diner even ran later so these passengers could get lunch.
We have the sleepers up front on the CS today. There is also a sleeper at the rear for some reason. I'm not sure if it's in use, as we haven't had a chance to get out yet. We are stopped a couple blocks short of Santa Barbara because of some sort of police activity. I just hope this delay...
Does anyone know the current consist of the CS and CZ (and car numbering)? (I know the Parlour car is back - yay!) I've seen posted in other topics that the sleepers get moved around sometimes. I'll be traveling on the CS tomorrow from LA to San Francisco then the CZ from San Francisco to...
It could be a glitch in their system, too. I'm taking the Coast Starlight next Friday, March 11 on a sleeper. I am traveling from Irvine to San Francisco Shopping Center (SFS). When I put that option into the online system, it will only let me book business class under the "premium" option...
We are in the everett station, too. I hope they get it cleared, too. It better not be cancelled like a couple winters back. Granted none of this is their fault. *sigh*
I noticed something like this on the Amtrak mobile (Usablenet) site. It was called something like "Train Status Alert" notification. I never used it, but perhaps this is what you're talking about?
I just would like to see consistency across the board - the locomotives and rolling stock have the new symbol, but most stations along the EB's route have the pointless arrow. Pick one! However, the "retro" celebratory train sounds nice for a promotional thing.
That is a very fair question - I think they could have at least said that they could put us in a hotel for a couple nights. A flight would be nice, but isn't taking Amtrak the way to get away from the airlines? Why does this happen to Chicago passengers, but not too many other places? If I...
I am not expecting 2200 dollars - I would never expect an airline to do vice versa but how about a "sorry for something out of our control, but here is a voucher for future travel." However maybe the taxi would be something for reimbursement. Thoughts on the letter asking for either $200 for the...
We would have been there from Saturday until (if space allowed) Tuesday - a 72 hour delay. Perhaps what you're suggesting is that amtrak shouldn't run on the high line in winter. (I see no reason why they shouldn't and I see safety should always come first. So I don'tdisagree with the line...
Thank you for your response! Apparently, our travel agent already opened a "case." We called Amtrak yesterday and did exactly your first suggestion. The customer relations agent said that since we did not take the train, she could not do anything to help us in terms of a voucher. She knew...
