When I used to ride in Superliner Sleepers, the upper-level lavatory would be dirty all the time and the lower level ones would be virtually unused.
Yep. The allocation of restrooms to upper vs. lower wasn't well thought through....

What would you suggest to give up to put in another upper-level lavatory

Aloha

That's easy. Put two more restrooms upstairs, two less downstairs, and one roomette extra on the lower level.

Now that we have pointlessly reconfigured Superliner Sleeper restrooms, let us discuss what this accomplished. Cite examples.

More crap to roll downstairs?

Dude, I'd take offense to somebody taking photos of me without permission. And I'm several steps above the average Amtrak rider, forget Greyhound.

No I wouldn't come to blows over it or anything like that...
I've never had any problems taking photos while aboard Amtrak...

There was that one time several years ago... when this pax, who seemed like he was some sort of flea market dude from Jersey, gave me a 'one fingered salute' ...

...Hey!

^_^

And GML, this does not apply to you, but it seems like there is a poster on this thread who needs to come out of the Cold Rain and Snow...

It occured to me that this reminds me of what an LSA in the cafe on a westbound Sunset LTD said to me one time...

"When I've heard ealy on in the run "Dang, this is so much nicer than Greyhound!", I know its going to be a long, drunken run. And if a certain conductor is working his run, we will be met by the sheriff's office in Maricopa.
Sure enough. I woke up long enough in Maricopa to see a gentleman escorted off the train.

The nest morning I briefly saw that LSA and he said:

What did I tell you?
And when I asked, he said:

Yes, he was one of the one's who said that Amtrak was so much nicer than Greyhound!
... :p ...

Amtrak is generally nicer than Greyhound, Swadian. They have lounges and cooked aboard food and a nicer clientele.

To be blunt it boils down to this... many (but not all) of Greyhound's passengers are on the bus because they have no other choice (due to economic reasons, a lack of a car, scared to fly, no nearby airport, etc.). While some people take Amtrak for the same reason... there is also a group of passengers who are there to take "the train." Amtrak also offers sleeper service which appeals to a higher class of customers.

For those reasons Amtrak will have a "better" clientele than Greyhound.

Now that's a big generalization and it doesn't necessarily mean the crowd on Greyhound is always "bad" and it doesn't mean you won't encounter "bad" passengers on Amtrak.

As always, your mileage may vary.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to hijack my own thread, but yeah, foaming got the better of me.

Anyway, Ricky just reinforces my point that The Davy Crockett had already proven.

As always, Belfield is in North Dakota, not in South Dakota.

Which is? If pricing and schedules were roughly the same between Amtrak and Greyhound, there would be very few people taking Greyhound.

Greyhound's advantage is mainly price, along with schedules in some markets. I doubt there's many people that choose Greyhound for the experience.

Guess one reason why I am not riding Amtrak anymore? Because Belfield is in North Dakota, not in South Dakota! You figure out the rest!

Belafield has not yet outlawed trolls. North Dakots has outlawed trolls. South Dakota has not outlawed trolls.

Yep. Makes complete sense. :giggle:
