    Question - ticket validity

The trains you are riding are reserved trains. Therefore you need to change your reservation and exchange the tickets. The fares for travel on Friday night is higher due to a higher demand than in other time periods.

When you get to the station to board go to the ticket window first and exchange your tickets for new ones. If you charged them to a credit card the agent will issue a credit to that card. remember to give yourself extra time station however it should not take to long. Depending on the time of...

    Upgrade

Hi Adam, You can get a sleeper for segments of a trip such as you are planning if they are available. I have done it numerous times and it does save some money. It is easier to either call Amtrak (1-800-USA-RAIL) or use a travel agent then trying to do it on the website (my opinion). Have a...

    Cardinal IND to WAS

Chris, Just curious as to what lines you rode in Boston. Like Alan, I rode the Cardinal CHI-WAS when it was Superliner equipped. It was one of the best trips I have had on Amtrak. Spent most of the day in the Sightseer lounge.

    One night in Boston

Chris, Your hotel is closest to Wonderland station on the Blue Line. According to Mapquest it is 1.1 miles by car from there to the hotel. Walking maybe shorter as there are a number of one-way streets a motorist would have to contend with. Or you can take the 116 Bus to Revere and Breed St. ...

    Mules, Ann Rutledge using Superliners

Alan, Do you know if Amtrak is looking at any specific manufacturer or model DMU? They tried an Adtranz IC2 several years ago and I know that Colorado Railcar has produced a protype that is now with Miami Tri-Rail.

I have done the eastbound run several times. Stay in the lounge as much can because as others have stated the scenery is on both sides and is spectacular. This time of year, at night, with snow on the ground and if the moon is shining the High Sierras are beautiful. This is truly the most...
