One of Amtrak's assets is its connectivity - where it exists. For several years now there has been no connection from the Silver Star (91/92) to the Capitol Limited (29/30) at Washington. Coming up at the end of February, 92 will be traveling about 5 hours earlier than it normally does, due to CSX track work. For those days, Amtrak's reservation system will allow you to book train 92 to train 29. It's now possible to go from Raleigh to Chicago without a layover. However, the reservations system will not allow you to make a booking in the other direction. So, if you leave, don't bother trying to come back. I suppose the problem is the ongoing track work that train 30 is subject to.

You can however do 2 separate, one to WAS and 1 from WAS. However, you would lose the thru booking fare, and the connection would not be guaranteed. There's a very good chance there'll be no problem, but if there is,
