I know this topic has come up before, but on my way home today I was listening to WFUV 90.7 in NYC (cool station, BTW), and they played a song by Scott Miller & The Commonwealth called "Amtrak Crescent." It's an OK song, but I wouldn't call it an anthem like "City of New Orleans." It's kind of a rambling song about traveling through the south and starting over. The neat part of the song is that he sings a couple of lines about a different city -- New Orleans, Birmingham, Charlotte, Manassas, Washington, etc. -- the stops going northbound on The Crescent.
According to Amazon, the CD came out in June. I would have tacked this onto Native Son's trip report, but it went off in an engine direction. Just in case anyone's into train songs or singer-songwriter-type songs in general, I thought I'd throw this out there.
