Amtrak train #5(28) had two private cars on it. I could tell they were both from the Pennsylvania Railroad, but I couldn't make out their names or numbers. This California Zephyr arrived in Emeryville today. I've heard the varnish will go south from Oakland.

I don't know what cars those were, but it reminds me of one of the most unique cars on the PRR. They had one Budd 10-6 sleeper, that was in all 'California Zephyr', stainless steel livery, as their contribution to the transcontinental pool car arrangement. The car ran on the PRR, or even the NYC(!), between New York and Chicago, thence the CZ.

The car was very appropriately named "Silver Rapids" in tribute to both its Zephyr and PRR series names for 10-6 Pullman's....

Think I saw then while getting the Chief yesterday afternoon. As usual they were where you could not get close to them.
