The House of Representatives Republican letter to Appropriations

leaders

has been closed and sent. Please do not call your legislators anymore

regarding this issue (general calls of support for Amtrak are always

needed!).

The final count was 22 members, one more than last year. Thank you

for

your efforts! The 22 Republicans are:

Steve LaTourette (OH), Mike Castle (DE), Sherwood Boehlert (NY), Rob

Simmons (CT), Michael Fitzpatrick (PA), Frank LoBiondo (NJ), Tim

Johnson

(IL), Todd Platts (PA), Curt Weldon (PA), Chris Smith (NJ), Peter King

(NY), Jim Saxton (NJ), James Leach (IA), Phil English (PA), Jerry

Weller

(IL), Jim Gerlach (PA), Scott Garrett (NJ), John McHugh (NY), Joe

Schwarz (MI), Mike Ferguson (NJ), Sue Kelly (NY), Randy Kuhl (NY)

On Thursday, May 5, at 10:00 a.m. in the courtyard of the Cannon House

Office Building here in Washington, D.C. there will be a press

conference to announce the formation of the "Amtrak Caucus." This is

a

bi-partisan effort being led by Reps. Mike Castle and Michael

Fitzpatrick and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Jim Oberstar (D-MN).

If you live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, please attend

this event! The Congressmen want a big turnout from the train-riding

public.

No matter where you live, encourage your Representative to join this

caucus! Go to the House homepage, <http://www.house.gov> to contact

your Representative.

Finally, our weekly news hotline will be posted by 5:00 p.m. (EDT)

today. Don't forget to check it out!
