ticket dilemna question

I have two tickets for this Sat.: one for me, one for someone else #1. The someone else #1 may not go. Their name is on the ticket. Can I have someone else #2 go instead without changing reservations?

If the conductor does an id check there could be a hassle. I'm not sure what would happen. I would call to see if you can change the name.
