What time is #29 really scheduled to depart PGH? The timetable says 11:59PM but I am of the thought that is to get the passengers to the station on the correct day. Also is the station staff currently holding bags for passengers without checking them? I am considering a trip connecting off of #43 and would like to get a nice meal and wander a bit.

The schedule says arrive at 11:48 and leave at 11:59. It is not unusual for it to arrive early but it definitely won't leave any earlier than what is in the timetable (the late, great timetable, that is). Of course, it could very well be late. You can check the history here. If 43 is close to on time you should have plenty of time for a leisurely dinner. I can't answer your question about holding bags; maybe others have had experience with that.

I haven't been in Pittsburgh since the Pandemic began, but every time I've ridden the Pennsy to the Burg to connect with #29 , the friendly Agent in the Dungeon, er Station has kept my bags for Free while I went out to eat and get some Fresh Air during the layover. YMMV
