Hi Jim,
Although Ian's trip certainly appeals, I don't think I have as much stamina as him... nor do I think my stomach is up to the budget street food that he seems to thrive on!
I have today just booked a flight (sorry!) to Budapest for this friday, and then hope to make my way down to Athens by train. I have been to Budapest by train from Germany before, and the flight is just so cheap I can't justify spending the rail fare this time!
I am imagining spending a few days in Serbia, then Athens, and maybe a boat ride to one of the Greek Islands. It is off season, but it would be fun to revisit one or two islands that I have fond memories of visiting, back in the day... just another mini adventure...
