This is a bit unconventional in some respects, but I can mention some rail aspects to the trip as well:
-I did a single-day trip each way from RVR to/from POR by Amtrak. Northbound, this involved the Meteor, an Acela, and the Downeaster; southbound, it involved an Ambus, an Acela, and the Meteor. All of the transportation went smoothly (the Meteor was late out of NYP but almost on time into RVR), the food was good, etc. One of the better parts of that was that I got to introduce a friend to both the diner on the Meteor (and the steak) and to Acela FC, which more than made up for his bad time on 66/67 last year. I also got to have breakfast with Abe from NARP at Boston South Station on my way home.
