I'm taking a trip this August to N.Y., and connecting in both directions with the Texas Eagle in Chicago. The time between arrivals and departures seem workable based on the published schedule for connections. Does anyone know if this particular connection usually works? How is on-time performance for the LS Limited? Thanks a lot!

Hi, I have taken the Texas Eagle only once, May 2004. Fellow passengers were booked onward on the Lakeshore, and on this occasion missed their connection. There is a "tool" on the amtrak.com website which allows you to check the current running times of trains, if you try this over a period of days you should build up a better picture of timekeeping.

PS I am not so sad that I would be on here at 2am...its 11.30 am in UK!

Don't feel bad, it's entirely possible I'll be making posts at that time of the morning when I'm at FSU. B)
