Amtrak discounts available for those needing critical medical care

Amtrak has partnered with the state Department of Transportation and Voices of Hope to offer discounted rail fare for passengers and families who must travel for treatment of life-threatening medical conditions.
State-supported Empire Service trains operating within New York state will offer buy one — get one free discount under the “Empire Service Rails to Recovery” program. Passengers should visit the Voices of Hope website and register with one of 22 participating member agencies. Once customers are registered, they’re directed to amtrak.com to book their discounted travel.
