Less than a week after their NTD 261 steam excursion, the Friends of 261 are doing their 'Restaurant Week' private varnish trip MSP to CHI, and back, behind the Empire Builder. I've done this trip and it is fantastic. The Cedar Rapids is an amazing car and The Friends do a great job keeping it up and maintaining it in very close to original condition. Then there are the meals in the Super Dome - which show you what real 'cheffing' on a train is all about. The Super Dome is an amazing car too - very nicely kept up and a pleasure to ride in. The open bar doesn't hurt either! Jason (at the bar and about everywhere else) and Steve have always been very gracious hosts and they make the trip even more enjoyable with their knowledge and love for what they do.
