Subject: Michigan Amtrak funding passes--great work!
To NARP Members in Michigan, October 1, 2004--
The Michigan Senate passed the 2005 Transportation Bill (H.B. 5528) with
$7.2 million for Amtrak: $7.1 million for train operations and $100,000
for marketing. The bill now goes to Governor Granholm, who will sign
it.
While this has been a tougher than usual battle, the outcome is what we
wanted. We understand that the voices of passenger rail advocates were
heard loud and clear in Lansing: both in legislators' offices and the
Governor's office.
Thank you all for your efforts on behalf of these two trains! Special
thanks also go out to the Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers

to preserve this vital rail service.
