It has been one month since Amtrak California converted San Joaquin train 711 to the single-level Comet cars. (Although due to an issue with the Horizon dinettes, the bi-level cars were used 11/09 to 11/15.)
Things started off fairly normal with only small delays. But in the last 15 days... things have been been bad for 711 with 5 trains having major delays and the train arriving at it's final destination over 90 minutes late.
Most of the delays have been due to these major incidents. Other than that the on time performance has been hit or miss with the train either arriving over 8 minutes early, or over 15 minutes late. (That might be the true issue with the single level trainsets and their longer boarding times.)
Here are the arrivals (with data from the official Twitter account @SanJoaquinTrain and the Amtrak Train Status History website):
11/08: Freight train congestion. 45 minutes late leaving Stockton.
11/09: No explanation given on Twitter. 2 hours, 13 minutes late leaving Fresno.
