To clarify my comment. Yes, I am an airline pilot with United. All US based aircrew are trained to the same standards and measured by them. My comment was tongue in cheek, and I would have no issue with flying on any US based carrier.

In some cases, yes. It depends on a few different factors, along with the airport.

We do push back from the gate early, if everyone is on-board, and the airplane is buttoned up. Once we push, that starts the clock for the flight and is the time we use to measure if we departed on-time or not.

All of our PW 777's are grounded at the moment. The mishap aircraft in question, I personally had flown both as CA and FO several times. Kudo's to the crew for their professionalism, and so happy no one was injured.
